011 | Greece for the Mystic 2013 summer shoot.
#work
After a lot of preparation and deciding where the next Mystic photo shoot would be we took off for Greece where an old wooden sailboat would be waiting for us. The boat called Sally would show us including the people form the Mystic HQ, Deepthought Productions and worlds best kite and windsurfers over the deep blue waters of Greece. To get a realistic feeling of an boat trip in search for the best spots there was only one way to go and that was to do it our self and document it and have fun. This campaign was the summer part of the 'One Season' campaign we started with the winter season shoot prior to this shoot. We spent this shoot on a sailing boat in the seas around Greece, and together with teamriders Youri Zoon, Boujmaa Guilloul, Ruben Lenten, Taty Frans, Bruna, Bruna Kajiya and Marc Jacobs we searched for the best winds in the spring/summer part of the 'One Season' campaign.

Together with Hugo Happel (11AM) we took of for Norway to shoot the Mystic 2012 winter collection in extreme weather conditions. Snowstorms, 30+ knots of wind and temperatures below 0 where the conditions we had to deal with but with the right clothes and a smiles it was easier done then said! We came up with he ONE SEASON campaign, did the art direction and captured it together with Deepthought Productions.

This sequence filmed by Jack Johnson's (part of "Thicker than water") always stuck with me. The sound, the stories and all the different ways one single fin surfboard can be surfed by a bunch of the best surfers in the in Hawaiian in classic conditions. A must see!

A different approach for a pretty radical kite and windsurfing brand was needed and required by Mystic. This shoot needed to come out more playful, colourful, sexy and fun compared to the brand image they carried over previous years, but also it still needed to be windy and edgy enough. So we created a lot of different settings, got a giant wind machine, and set foot in a new direction.

An oldie but the same beautiful message and dreamy imagery.
006 | JR: Use art to turn the world inside out.
French street artist JR uses his camera to show the world its true face, by pasting photos of the human face across massive canvases. At TED 2011, he makes his audacious TED Prize wish: to use art to turn the world inside out. www.insideoutproject.net

The first shoot we got to join (this was back in 2010) brought us to dusty Morocco, guided by Mystic rider and Moroccan local Boujmaa Guilloul. It wasn't easy; all camera gear got taken in by border patrol and our filmer got too sick to leave the house for most of the days we were there, but we still managed to squeeze out a pretty good result that we used to promote the 2011 Mystic summer collection. I joined the Mystic team on a photo shoot trip to Essaouira, Morocco for the photography of the 2011 product collection as the Art Director. The team was guided by Moroccan local and Mystic team rider Boujmaa Guilloul.

Corona x Monster Children teamed up and ventured to the island of Sri Lanka inviting along current World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, Craig Anderson, Dion Agius, Dylan Rieder and Andrew Allen, squeezed them into a decrepit bus and ventured from one side of the island to the other, on a quest to uncover surf and tactile skate spots for our latest Team Average trip? The team was victorious in adventure, friendships were forged and the guys proved themselves to be above average. By Mike Piscitelli.
